Homework Procedures
Students will have some form of homework each day Monday through Thursday and occasionally on Friday to finish up any classwork or make up work. Homework is a way of reinforcing skills learned in class. Students will have about 45 minutes of homework each night, including daily reading. Homework, is a way of letting the teacher know what a student may need extra help on, and allows the teacher to see what she needs to reteach. Homework grades are scored on a holistic scale on a 1 to 4 scale on the report card. Homework is expected to be completed each morning at the beginning of class.
Daily Reading
Third grade students are expected to read a minimum of 20 minutes each night during the week and 40 minutes on the weekend to help them practice fluency and comprehension skills. Please ask your child questions as he or she is reading to help them monitor their comprehension and help them find books that are at their reading level.
